15th January 2011 We've been to camping sites all over New Zealand and this one rates as one of the best, in terms of facilties, location and the hosts. They will do anything for you to ensure that your holiday is successful and enjoyable; e.g. people staying opposite us in a tent with teenagers had their fridge break down on the first day. Mick lent them a spare from the camp, organised for the local repair man to visit their site and disposed of their fridge when it couldn't be repaired.
Each morning and at several times during the day a pair of Tui birds serenade campers. Whangamata Motor Camp is a home away from home!
20th February 2012 Not a bad old camp. However, the only one review on this site hardly gives an accurate report. Just be careful with the bookings. They insist on a minimum three nights when it suits them (e.g. long weekends), and also in terms of refunding unused nights, they will "wait and see" if they can re-let your space before agreeing to anything. When booking, one feels like a naughty child, and the proprietor knows best what you really want! Handy to everything, brilliant in that sense.
