17th February 2012 I can't recommend this tour highly enough, it was so special - and as a New Zealander the Kiwi bird is so iconic. Thanks to Paul and the Kiwi House for such a wonderful experience. Otorohanga is close to Waitomo caves, Kawhia and loads of other tourist attractions. If you visit the Kiwi House in the warmer months you can even camp next door at Camp Kiwi, pack up the car and the kids and do the great NZ road trip!
Every visitor is assured of seeing kiwis on our guided tour of the nocturnal house. Other features include NZ's original walk through aviary where visitors can see native birds in a natural rainforest habitat. Other aviaries, pond and marshland display a wide variety of rare and unusual birds, tuatara and geckos. Our well stocked shop has a selection of wildlife orientated gifts, souvenirs, books and also sells cold drinks and snack foods.
