Special Catholic Character flows across all aspects of life at St. Joseph's School in Paeroa. While the faith development of their students, and the Religious Education curriculum, are of paramount importance, academic learning, health and physical well-being and local community involvement are always key areas of focus too.
* Students learn within a happy and supportive learning environment.
We are a welcoming family-orientated school and parish community. The school benefits from the work of an active and supportive PTA and Board of Trustees.
* Sporting and fitness involvements include netball, touch rugby, swimming, cross country, athletics, Jump Jam, Jump Rope for Heart.
* St. Joseph's, in the Ohinemuri (Paeroa ) Cluster, have been involved with SOAR@Paeroa - a Ministry of Education Schooling Improvement Project - since Term 4 2003. High percentages of the students in the cluster have achieved, some truly outstanding results in literacy areas, particularly reading. St. Joseph's invariably has 90% plus students achieving at average, and above average levels.
* St. Joseph's has enjoyed being a 'Duffy Books in Homes' school for
a number of years. All the students receive at least six books each year.
* Full participation in the Sport Waikato's Project Energize programme since February 2005 has seen the school increase it's committment to encouraging healthy eating habits among students and their families, and the importance of regular physical activity. The school recognises that healthy active children will be better happier learners.
* The school now favours fund-raising ventures that line up with the healthy active' philosophy, and ones that also reach out to the wider community. The annual Cycle Challenge timed to coincide with NZ Bike Wise Week, and the 2007 most successful Women's Expo Evening, are two such ventures.
