Established in 1968, Hadley & Robinson Ltd is a company of consulting engineers specialising in civil and structural engineering.
Much of our work is in structure for buildings and their associated works, where we undertake projects that range from housing to large industrial complexes, projects are not restricted to buildings. We also are consultants in such fields as radio transmission masts, freight containers, cranes, bridges, wharves and agricultural structures.
Fire engineering has become important for contemporary buildings, and this service is also offered. Services are also offered is open channel reticulation control, works programming, construction techniques and systems.
We have been involved in many projects that consist the strengthening of existing buildings. For all buildings, but especially those of historical or heritage significance, sympathy for the form and fabric of the buildings and knowledge of past methods of construction are essential.
National groups and organisations regularly consult Hadley & Robinson Ltd for specialist advice. These groups include territorial authorities, insurance assessors and companies, the Earthquake Commission, and The New Zealand Historic Places Trust.
There is demonstrated respect within the profession of the knowledge and competence of the company. Members of Hadley & Robinson Ltd have been part of the development of engineering in New Zealand through membership of study groups of the Institution of Professional Engineers (IPENZ) and the New Zealand Society for Earthquake Engineering (NZSEE), and membership of Standards New Zealand.
Hadley & Robinson Ltd believe that the scale of a problem must be defined at an early stage in planning. If proper solutions require input from beyond the expertise of the company, specialist advice should be engaged. A collaborative approach that involves the whole team: - the client, consultants and the contractors; is favoured. In this way a constructive and imaginative approach may be brought to bear. Alternatives should be explored, and the best overall solutions found early, as no degree of sophistication can remedy poor initial choices.
The scale of services offered must reflect and be tailored to the needs of the individual clients, and may involve "know-how-only" advice, or may comprise the provision of total planning, design and implementation.
