The Green Charter
The four principles of the Green Party are Ecological Wisdom, Social Responsibility, Appropriate Decision-making and Non-Violence. You can also read the Green Party's vision, values, mission statement and success criteria and long term goals.
Green Party Organisation
The Green Party are the most democratic decision-making Political Party in New Zealand - our Party List is decided by a vote of all members. This organisational chart shows the structure of the party and how decisions are made. The constitution, policy guidelines and standing orders (members-only) are also available and members can also access the extensive Green Party Guide wiki.
Green MPs
There were six Green MPs elected at the 2005 election. We have biographical details for the MPs and the candidates who stood for the 2005 election.
History of The Green Party
Greens in Time and Space is an article outlining the History of Green Parties in New Zealand and around the world from the early 1970's to 1999 when 7 Green MPs were elected. Post election there are supposed to be yearly updates: 2000.
Green Achievements
The Parliamentary Greens achieved a great deal of policy successes in the 1999-2002 and 2002-2005 Parliaments, some of which are outlined here (or expanded yearly updates: 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005). A major success was getting input into the budget: Budget 2000, Budget 2001, Budget 2002. You can also read the 1997-99 achievments from our first term in Parliament.
