6th June 2012 Went here with my girlfriend as she bought a living social voucher. Was our first time here. Really enjoyed the food, so traditional unlike those other thai places. Fantastic serving sizes and very nice flavours. Customer service was friendly and delicate :) would highly recommend this place to all. Comfortable place. Well done!! A
"DINERS VENTURING INTO this Thai restaurant will immediately feel welcome as the staff are among the most helpful and polite of all Auckland's restaurants... It's tranquil with Thai-inspired decoration that incorporates subtle colours and textures.
The large menu is fairly authentic and delicious. The best way to sample the food is to go with three or four friends and order a variety of dishes to share. Start with a combination of the entree items and enjoy the delicate pastries, tasty fish cakes and steamed dumplings which are all light enough not to spoil your appetite. There's an enormous selection of dishes and all are helpfully labelled mild, warm, hot, or hot, hot, hot. ... A good selection of beers includes Singha beer, authentically sourced from Thailand. 12th October 2011 Went there twice and OK for the first round, but things went downhill at the second visit. Average food, very poor service (or very rude staff should I say!!), and crowded space. Wouldn't go back again or recommend to anyone. There are other far better Thai restaurants in AKL than Thai Friends (not so friendly after all!!).

7th October 2010 Thai Friends is one of my favourite restaurants in Parnell. The food is scrummy especially their pangang gai chicken. I also really like how you can dine outside and watch the people walk past with jealous looks while you eat. They do great takeaways too.

18th September 2010 A cute little restaurant that oozes charm and character; unfortunately, the staff service needs a bit more work. Ordered takeaway and sat at a table, and it took 45 minutes as they didn't bother to come over and tell us it was ready so by the time we figured something was up and went to the counter to ask what was going on, they took our food out of the warming area...
The food itself was not bad - had some kind of "drunk chicken" noodle dish and also a green curry with eggplant, but wasn't blown away with the quality or price, especially when you can get similar Thai for almost half the price at Food Alley or on Anzac Ave's food hall.
It might be better to dine there on a warm summer evening.

26th July 2010 Lovely little Thai place in the heart of Parnell. Amazing Chicken Panang Curry and byo!
Location is great...down a little cobble stone alley way. Great take-away option too.

6th July 2010 Thai Friends is a 'must try' if you love Thai food. The space is a bit cramped, but the food definitely makes up for it. I had their tom yum soup and larb gai and WOW was it amazing! Definitely need to book for dinner as the place is extremely popular.

11th May 2010 Good food - terrible customer service - check your bill!!
They overcharged us heaps - then blamed us for his (manager's) mistake. Told us that he didn't care if we told others - or if we ever came back. So here it is everyone - these guys rip you off and then treat you like muck. And, not surprisingly we are not going back! He so knew that he'd tried to pull a fast one.
I don't care how good the food is, there is no excuse for rudeness. There are hundreds of great Thai restaurants out there - I advise to avoid this one if you can.
