Situated in the heart of Auckland's waterfront on Princes Wharf is one of New Zealands most recognised and prestigious restaurants, Euro.
At dinner one should eat wisely, but not too well; and talk well, but not too wisely Situated in the heart of Auckland's waterfront on Princes Wharf is one of New Zealands most recognised and prestigious restaurants, Euro.
Looking over the water towards Auckland's harbour bridge and back over to the maritime museum, Euro offers the perfect setting for a dining experience to be remembered. Diners can sink into the leather couches beside the fire, or perch on Philippe Stark chairs at the bar watching everything unfold in the open kitchen. The white linen clad tables are set too far apart for eavesdropping, which is just as it should be. This is where Aucklands glitterati go to be seen, not heard. Celebrity chef Simon Gault produces food with a combination of international flavours that bow to the Pacific, Texas, Mexico and the West Indies, especially dishes such as the rotisserie chicken over mash with peanut slaw. The key to the dishes on offer is quality ingredients with simple yet beautiful married flavours. The quality of food, an exciting comprehensive wine list, an ambience second to none, combined with exceptional service to create the perfect dining experience, has won Euro international acclaim, exemplified when Euro became NZ's first ever restaurant to make the World's Top 60 in Cond'e Nast magazine.

Euro is consistently at the top of our preferred dinning list. Every time we go there the food is superbly prepared and presented from a very well designed menu. The service is always great with that clever balance of there when you need them but not in your face. Having held a wedding there this year, been for several special occasion meals and taken overseas guests along for dinner we have never been disappointed .. in fact it never fails to leave us wanting to go back again.

My husband Bill had booked Euro for lunch as a surprise for my 60th birthday. We were not disappointed - the food, atmosphere and service were fantastic. My entree of asparagus, pea puree etc was just gorgeous - I will be making this at home! Bill had the Bluff oysters that were on special and then onto the mains, which were equally as special. I want to come back.

The food was really good but unfortunately ended with me violently ill that evening with food poisoning. An email was written to Euro to make them aware of the risk to future clientele but no response was received from the restaurant which I felt was unprofessional given their standing. If going, I suggest avoiding the crab leg entree and the 21 day steak.

I had heard great things about Euro and have wanted to go here for dinner for ages so on Saturday I finally went and I was not disappointed. The service was out standing and all the wait staff were really friendly and attentive. To start I had the minted asparagus with smoked salmon - I was expecting a tiny portion but was pleasantly surprised to be served a good sized starter. For the main event I had the lamb rump which was cooked to perfection. Dessert was the highlight - a chocolate self serving pudding with raspberries. The wine was also delicious and the Tom Collins (long gin cocktail) was one of the best I have had. Well done Euro, I'm not surprised you have such a good reputation.

The old mantra of "you get what you pay for" holds up here. While the meals are pricy you sure do get some amazing food here. Great atmosphere, well set out and a nice setting on the viaduct, parking can be a bit crazy but probably the only fault. Picks of the starters for dinner; - Havoc Pork belly - King crab - Duck consomme Picks for Mains; - Duck again - Eye fillet - Market Fish Great wine and beer selection, staff are very friendly and helpful always approachable even when it comes to a wine selection. Do youself a favour and take the girlfrien, partner, wife hell even your mum here they will love it.

We had a great experience. The food and service were fantastic. I couldn't fault anything, I actually enjoyed the music very unusual. We thank for a great evening-cocktails, wine and food all to die for. We will come back that is a promise.

When choosing where to go to celebrate our anniversary, I felt we couldn't go past Euro where we have always had exceptional service, fabulous food & a great time in the past. Unfortunately, this was NOT at all the case this time: We were seated near the bar (not at all conducive to romantic conversation....)which was also where the diners were lining up to be taken through to the main restaurant, the service was mediocre at best (waiting for drinks orders /slow food service), and the meal was not up to the usual Euro standard although the SG prawn & crab entree was fabulous, but alas the other food we ordered was rather ho-hum. Euro has condensed their menu (along with their standards it seems), and so I am sad to say, we won't be back again in a hurry. A huge disappointment!

I have been wanting to go to Euro for some time. With the recent hype from Master Chef.I also saw Simon Gault cooking demostration at Westfield shopping center at Manukau City last month and my mouth was watering,so i decided to make a booking and went last Saturday.I was so excited that day and couldnt wait.I'm sorry to say i was a little disappointed. The service was average, although our waiter was very friendly and helpfull. The food with a high price tag was average.I was expecting alot more. I had the Peking Duck Chinese pancakes for my entree. The duck was lovely and tender but it was a little messy and awkward to eat.My daughter had the Truffle Cauliflower soup which smelt absolutely devine. For my main i had the special Fish of the day (John Dory). The fish by itself lacked seasoning and was bland. However the yuzu buerre blanc sauce was the hero of the dish. My daughter had the Dizzy lamb and said it was okay.

It was ok....not so bad as to complain....but far from as good as I expected. The location is great.... the music was strange (70's disco music and fine dining don't really go together for me, and the inside of the restaurant was sooo loud that we opted to eat outside with the smokers, despite the fact that we don't smoke!). I had the peking duck entre, which was a nice idea, but the duck did not really deliver. For a main I had the fresh fish, which smelt far from fresh. I expected much better from one of Aucklands top restaurants and have eaten much better for far less money! I wouldn't go back.

We had the best dinning experience with everything just perfect. As a first date venue, it was perfect. Our waiter was a genius, the food Divine and the whole evening one to remember.

Setting is fantastic, even though it was busy the waiter did a superb job of making us feel at home. The food was presented perfectly and the flavor was stunning. Recomend the seafood Chowder. Great wine list and very reasonable prices. Overall truly one of Aucklands premier waterfront locations.

We went to Euro on a girl's weekend in Auckland, and had a really great time. Our waiter was very funny and incredibly helpful. Two of us had the catch of the day which was superb, and the chef whipped up a delicious risotto full of brightly coloured vegetables for our vegan friend. Dessert was incredible, we had the chocolate pudding and the trio of creme brulees which were both to die for. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a great meal in a nice restaurant. We had a really great night.

Cocktails were amazing! Food was fantastic, everything complimented each other in terms of taste. Service was lacking, waitress only came to take orders and clear plates. However i would return for the food.

Euro never fails to deliver on consistency of product, service and style. After a few visits, with different groups, not once have I felt let down in any way. Brave and innovative options on the menu are explained in detail by the waiting staff, who are happy and able to answer any question you could muster about any of the dishes. Nothing bad to say really. Great for a dinner with friends, family dinner, business lunch or quick pizza and a beer by the water.

This a great place for showing off Auckland to visiting family, a fantastic restaurant by the harbour, in the middle of the viaduct area. We were a big group, so we managed to enjoy a lot of the dishes. For starters, we’ve tried the oysters, tuna tartare, scallops, ravioli, and the Peking duck. Oh, my – such an amazing start. For mains, I’ve had the Tuna steak one time and the Rotisserie chicken another time. I can’t remember what exactly we had for dessert, but we probably tried them all anyway. Bottomline – food is amazing. Service is amazing. And the place, the ambiance, is amazing. With Euro, you can never, ever go wrong. You’re paying for the good stuff here.
