Without a doubt the worst dining experience I've ever encountered. The view is about all it has going for it. From a team of lazy and incompetent staff who firstly couldn't find my booking (which had been on their records for at least two months), that they had to call me to confirm it, despite the fact I'd rang earlier that day to confirm final numbers, to their ineptitude at regularly refilling our water on the tables (over half an hour after being asked). The thrills for our party of 18 to celebrate my 40th birthday did not stop there. For a grand price of $80 per head, we were served a ciabatta roll each (which in some cases guests commented were stale), string-y chicken, crisp salmon, lamb served rare (when medium had been requested). The 'side order' arrived later than the main meals, by which time most of our group had almost finished. And when I say 'side order' we are talking (between 5-8 ppl) a single-half filled dessert bowl of lettuce leaves soaked in vinaigrette, garnished by a measly few cherry tomatoes and lukewarm (and on one table - cold!) shoestring French fries that any Crap-Donald's restaurant could have easily topped in quality. A request for a dairy-free dessert was completely ignored. Furthermore we found a significant menu change that was not advised at any time prior to arrival, thus no allowance for some guests who had particular dietary requirements. I also had the delight of being overcharged for a drink I didn't order. On informing the restaurant of our dissatisfaction with the food and service on this occasion, have been advised that the $8 difference from the $72 group booking price quoted on their website includes 'breads and dips', these wonderful side orders, and tea or coffee. As compensation for this outstanding performance was offered a 3-course meal for two and bottle of house wine, no refund of any sort has been offered, which is my preferred option. While I do appreciate their honesty in advising that much discussion with the staff had been held and outlining to me the changes to processes had been made, it does not make up for their inadequate staffing level for a busy evening and the lack of compensation on what was supposed to be a special birthday. An extremely disappointing first-time experience for myself and several guests (including a handful who travelled from outside of Auckland). It is abundantly clear this outstanding team have no idea whatsoever about what great customer service consists of, nor what it takes to achieve it. It has left a truly unfavourable memory of this milestone for me and neither I, nor my guests will ever visit again. Nor would we encourage others to do the same.

Worst service in Auckland and nobody seems to care? Very bad advert for Auckland! After dining at Orbit and thinking this must just be a bad day, I have read lots of reviews and they all complain about the service. The management must be aware of this but don't care. 2 hours for 2 people to eat lunch, we wasn't asked if we wanted another drink, if we wanted dessert, if we wanted the bill, each time we had to try and catch someone's attention and they are all really good at avoiding eye contact! We where charged for 5 sides when we ordered 2, the food was average, but expensive, we won't be returning! Save your money and try Botswana butchery instead it's much better!

Yes, Orbit may be a restaurant with a unique aspect - it is situated in Auckland's tallest building and it revolves slowly around so diners can enjoy 360 views of the city... however that's really the only thing that is remarkable about this establishment. Just because their restaurant revolves does not excuse bad service. We waited 40 minutes from arriving at our table to receiving our drinks (and Orbit was not busy). Entrees were served 15 minutes later. Thankfully all the entrees were very delicious; I had the Burrata Caprese which I definitely recommend. Our water glasses needed refilling and were unnoticed for quite some time until someone finally managed to get a hold of one of the waitstaff (who were hardly around and very unattentive...) only to have their own water glass filled. We were fairly stunned by that - about 15 minutes later she came back and filled the other glasses. Our mains were okay, some enjoyed theirs very much and others were a little disappointed. I had the Goats Cheese Souffle which was a miserable mix of temperatures and flavours. Desserts were delicious; the only exception there is that one of our friends had the selection of fresh icecreams and sorbets -fresh banana icecream and dark cherry sorbet, he was told initially. However feijoa sorbet arrived in place of the cherry without any notification. If Orbit could improve their service, train their watistaff to be friendly and attentive, and make sure their meals arrive in a timely manner then this restaurant would be able to deliver a culinary experience which enhances, rather than lets down, the amazing venue.

We always have an exceptional meal at Orbit! Of course, the view is amazing and access to the Observation Deck is complimentary when dining at the restaurant. We have dined here several times over the years and each time, the service and quality of food has been excellent. We have recommended Orbit to many visiting friends and family so it's great to know that each time we dine here they have re-created the menu, but still maintain the standard of excellence!! We're looking forward to our next Orbit experience - it's out of this world!!!

I took my guests from other country and they really enjoyed time there. Orbit is a great place to go for great view and the dinning experience at the same time. Persoanlly think it is always a better value to go up and dine than just buying tickets to the tower observatory level - will be really good chance to relax and enjoy the view.

Went along with the family to celebrate a 21st birthday. The service was great, very helpful young man. The food was to die for, everyone of us absolutely loved our meals, entree, main and desert, couldn't fault it. Certainly worth going along. Wouldn't hestitate recommending and looking foward to my next visit.

Orbit is simply fabulous! And with a minimum $30 pp spend, it's quite possibly the best value Revolving Restaurant in the World. Great for families, visitors, or a romantic get together. The very courteous and well-trained staff really aim to please. Don't go in expecting fast food and you're guaranteed to have a very relaxing, visually-pleasing and memorable time.

I had my birthday's dinnet there and it was absolutely perfect! Great food, delicius desert, friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere. The only thing is that my partner asked for a window table, but when we get there it wasn't at the window. But it was a beautiful night anyway!

We dined on a mid-week evening (in winter). We were expecting a tourist trap (we have all experienced them!) but were realy pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food - we both feel that it may have been the best we experienced in NZ (expcet for my almond cake desert - shame but it happens). The wine was OK - expensive but you do have to expect it in these types of places :) The Staff whilst pleasant, did let the restaurant down though. At the end of all courses, our empty plates remained on the table whilst staff sauntered by with no visable direction. We were offored other peoples food twice and our wines (both the bottle and the desert wines) went to other peoples tables but I quickly remidied that - LOL. We also noticed that this was occuring at other tables by diferent staff. On entering (we had booked from Australia before arriving in Auckland where we had asked for a window table) we were not directed to a window table. We noticed one that was had been vacated (still with serviettes and crockery on it) and asked if we were able to have a table at the window. We were asked to wait whilst another table was reset and in approx 15 minutes, we were located in a nicely positioned table - all was good in the world :) The best compliment for me to offer is that I would dine there again :)

It's great fun when you go to the toilet then come out and have to find your table. I think all restaurants should do this, especially when people started to get a little sozzled and sit down at some randoms table. Good old fashioned entertainment, nice work Sky City

Definitely and absolutely the best view of Auckland City. This revolving restaurant is a definite must for everyone. Food is good, but conversation will always turn to the view and identifying streets and buildings around the city. We’ve been here twice now and always for a special occasion.

This is the place to go for a special occasion - enjoying a glass (or 3) of wine while watching the world go around (literally!). Great food, great service, great views - what's not to love?

Amazing views of Auckland City but be sure to go on a clear day/night to really enjoy the experience. Friendly service and good food. A unique dining experience without a doubt.

I love this place the food was fantastic I took my nan here for dinner and she had a wonderful time sitting at the highest point of the sky tower with a glass of merlot looking at the twinkling lights in the Auckland night sky enjoying a beautifully cooked piece of Angus steak... Perfect!

Looking for a place to go for that romantic night out with the other half, then Orbit is a good place to go. Try to pick your nights though, you don't want to head up and have your head in the clouds, not so romantic really. Still ... The food is what you'd expect, well crafted by people who obviously care about what they are serving you. They also subscribe to the mindset of serving the customers desires. I am hesitant often to return a dish that's not quite cooked right, however the staff were great and added a little extra flame to my Venison. The views, on a clear winters night are mindblowing, you really can see for such a long long way. Beautiful, romantic and a truly moving experience

Of course the views were very beautiful especially as we were able to see the sun set and a good way to get up the sky tower free!! Food was delicious, the serving sizes were just right given the food was fairly rich. Set menu was really really good value and I have to say the mojito's were the best I've had outside South America!! And very well priced I felt. A very lovely, relaxed night and I can't wait to go back again.
