8th September 2011 We've been here about 2 or 3 times now, the food has always been good. We love the homely / arty atmosphere vs the upmarket cafes of ponsonby. There's lots to look at and if you go on a Saturday you've got the farmers market there too. The pancakes are great, and the coffee is very good too which is fab for way out west!
They often have live music from a local artist inside which makes for a great experience on top of all the Art.
Service wise it's friendly, sure they are using teenagers to help out but I think it's great to see local kids working. We've never had bad service after going more than once.

1st February 2011 We went here full of anticipation and for a friends 55th birthday lunch. After an hour of sitting outside without being brought anything to eat or drink we were realising the mistake we'd made. When we were given our food it was with many apologies. The 2 B.L.T's and Salmon Salad were as ordinary as the service, we ate because we were hungry but not because the food was anything special. It wasn't. The bill came to $60, and if I had to pay it I would have been upset. It's true we won't go back, but giving someone $60 for the privilege of insulting us, when it was a friends birthday, means it won't be forgotten easily. The biggest complaint was there just wasn't any service, and isn't that what you pay for? Please save your money and go somewhere where you have been before that is predictable and safe. Constructive suggestion: Such a beautiful setting should be complimented with staff who are enthusiastic and keen to see people return. It isn't easy waiting on people, but like the businessman sitting next to us, we won't be returning. It really was terrible service, average food, and an experience I'd like to forget!
