2nd March 2011 A school/kura that has a holistic Maori approach to education based on Te Aho Matua philosophy. This school has a warm and vibrant environment for children to learn and grow. It provides an excellent academic sporting and tikanga/cultural values for tamariki. It is also a school that is inclusive of whanau/families. My children have all found their experience at Maungarongo invaluable in terms of providing them with a strong identity of who they are as Maori and always remember that the teachers always ensured they were speaking Maori at all times (even in the playground). I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to send their children to Kura Kaupapa Maori.
