AEL Group Ltd is a private equity investment firm that buys controlling stakes in businesses, and assists owners in achieving their objectives - whether they are looking to take a less active role in their business, or unlock capital.

Our Venture Capital division backs Kiwi entrepreneurs wishing to expand their high growth businesses within New Zealand and in offshore markets.

We invest in quality retail, office and industrial property in the main centres of New Zealand. Our Property Management division manages development and refurbishment programmes.

Businesses: AEL is particularly interested in opportunities offered by New Zealand businesses. We prefer to purchase or invest in growing businesses with current management in place, or businesses large enough to be managed and still provide a high return. The key attributes AEL seeks in prospective business acquisitions include market niche or competitive advantage, good sales and profit track records. Future prospects for the business and the industry in which it operates must also be favourable, and able to be evaluated easily. Along with acquiring such businesses, AEL also engages in their sale and trade.

Property: Commercial Property is another integral component of AEL's activity. We focus on the acqusition of mixed-use development or investment sites with a holding income that can be increased with new building and/or improvements to the property. We favour office buildings in central locations with retail potential, which are not yet fully let and are selling at valuations based on present income levels.
