24th September 2011 I had no idea Maria Pia's had closed, and became "MariLuca Ristoro", but was I pleased to see this new place was still Italian. From the moment I was warmly greeted by Giuseppe (he used to be at Hummingbird) like a long lost family friend I knew I was going to enjoy my evening.
If you are looking for somewhere with exceptional service, a warm cosy atmosphere, and great food and wine then I would give this place a go.
23rd March 2012 Delightful experience. This is the restaurant you come to if you want more traditional style Italian dishes without losing the flair.
I had the cockles for an entree - delicate flavours in a tasty broth with fresh parsley! My father had the prosciutto with provologne and zucchini.
For mains - scampi in a tomato based pasta that was again...delicious and eggplant bake with a mellow tomato/garlic sauce.
We had room for dessert and chose the gelato with liqueur topping and a torte with caramel gelato - beautiful.
Expect mains at about $26 - $33.
Service was impeccable, prompt but not pushy, friendly and efficient. The surroundings were cosy and not too loud.
Many Italian restaurants these days are going for the modern, sharp look but MariLuca still has a charm to it that I hope they retain and the food will not disappoint!

20th September 2011 This was easily the best meal out in Wellington I have had in a long while. The staff were friendly and knowledgable. Food was fantastic. Hoghly recommended!

9th September 2010 My wife and I had a lovely dining experience here. Lovely food and wine. A true taste of Italy with an outstanding maitre de. Relaxingly intimate surrounds. Price was about right for the quality of service and food. Parking may involve an evening stroll or get a cab and enjoy the wine!
