17th July 2013 I purchased a rimu table and 6 dining chairs from Ambrose Heal in 2008. The table appeared with a split in the leg, so was picked up again and table leg replaced. I have since moved to Auckland where the table was slightly scratched in the move and therefore took it to a reputable restorer asking him to white wash the table while restoring it. This unfortunately showed up all the yellow resin from the rimu and all the cracks that were appearing in the wood. After research and having professionals look at the table, it has been confirmed that the expensive table that I purchased was made with very poor quality rimu. I am extemely disappointed and won't be purchasing from this store again.
