21st March 2012 I took my young dog to Smart Dogs recently, for the first time. The person who greeted us was lovely, and gave me confidence in how Tess would be cared for. Her kennel was very clean, and Tess was relaxed and happy when I picked her up after three days, and clearly tired after lots of exercise.
The person on duty when I collected Tess gave me feedback on how Tess had coped in this new environment, which was greatly appreciated.
Friendly staff and a good atmosphere - I'm happy to book Tess at Smart Dogs.
14th December 2013 We have used Smart Dogs a number of years now and we continue to use them because our dog not only loves
it there and is always eager to join his friends but we think it is an extremely safe and clean place for him. We have no
problems with leaving him there while we go on holidays or for the odd weekend away and we would recommend it to all of
our dog loving friends. Thanks Smart Dogs for always taking such care of our little pooch!

3rd November 2013 We have used Smart dogs for a few years now for our Weimaraner. He needs lots of exercise, and he is very strong and sometimes hard to handle. We've found them to be excellent, and our dog strains at the lead to go in every time we take him as he loves it there. Does anyone know what's going on with the for sale signs?

5th September 2013 A Wellington couple may have to have their pet put down and are facing huge vet bills after the dog was attacked by another in a boarding kennel.
Mark and Carol Neilson were in Auckland when Smart Dogs boarding kennel in Churton Park called to say their eight-year-old jack russell, Macs, was at an after-hours vet.
"He had damage to his intestines, he'd lost a lot of blood and he was very flat and in very big shock," said Mr Neilson.
"He's our baby, my wife and I, he's been with us since he was six weeks old.

12th November 2012 Really bad experience booking with Smart Dogs - agree with the first reviewer that they REALLY need to sort out their admin! When I booked over the phone days in advance, I said I'd be coming in on the Saturday, at no one point did the man on the phone ask me what time I'd be coming in or mention that between the hours of 12 and 3 they are closed. So when I arrived with my dog at 12:30 all ready and excited for my holiday, I arrive to a bolted gate and he tells me that they are closed until 3pm. Well that's a bit unfortunate I say, because I have to be in Martinborough by 1pm and we're already running late. So is there somebody to come and check in my dog? Absolutely not until 3pm. Luckily for me, we have family in Wellington who were able to step up and take the dog for the weekend - but if we weren't so fortunate, this guy's absolute incompetence would have just about ruined my long overdue holiday. ADVISE BOOKING ELSEWHERE.

16th April 2012 My dog stayed at Smart Dogs just recently while I went away. My dog got picked up on a Friday for three nights stay but they tried to charge me for additional daycare during the week which we never requested and had never happened. On picking up my dog after the stay the lady at the office tried to charge me for that and I said I had never requested day care and my dog didn't come here, the young lady was adamant that my dog was picked on the Wednesday and sayed a day at Smart Dogs. The gate at my house is electronically locked requiring PIN number so there is no way they can pick up our dog without someone home. I refused to pay for that additional charge, of course. I think they need to do a better admin job. Oh, and my dog lost his City Council Registration tag while he was there -it was wrapped around the metal ring on his collar. Smart Dog said that it was probably chewed off but the tag normally comes under his chin so this makes me wonder how it could be chewed off... by another dog?? The premises was clean and is at handy location but not sure if I'll use Smart Dogs next time - unfortunatelly my experience was not positive.
