3rd October 2007 Sydney Australia. I stayed there 2 years ago and cannot disagree more with this review. Facilities were clean and kitchens had all the necessary equipment. Of course there has to be rules - can you please tell me instead where you can stay and NOT pay rent when it is due and NOT clean up after yourself and take all the equipment from the kitchen back to your own room??
I plan to stay there again in January '08 without hesitation. Keep up the good work Unitel. Cheers Jeremy
7th June 2012 I too have resided at 2 Farmhouse Lane St Johns and I have to agree with the previous post. If we are talking about the same manager then yes he is not the most pleasant guy ESPECIALLY if you have an opinion that differs from his. The rooms at this lodge are no longer cheap they are very very expensive. Carparks onsite are available but at a cost. You have to pay extra $30 if you are 3 or more days late on your rent. The manager also enters into the occupied rooms without consent, which is not allowed by law.

While the property is modern and cheap, the fittings and fixtures of this property certainly reflect the weekly rate which some tenants are required to pay. Additionally, the management of this particular property, specifically the Manager himself is not an easy person to deal with. In my various dealings with him I have found him to be obscenely rude, controlling and, in my opinion, he displays obvious favouritism to those who will listen and follow his direction without voicing their opinion.
Having spoken to MANY of the current tenants there, of whom I still remain close friends with, I have found that this particular Manager uses scare tactics in order to enforce his unethical and one-sided brand of policing. For example, such signage as:
"Pay rent on time or your doors may be clamped"
"Anyone caught on camera not washing their own dishes will receive one written warning before eviction"
"Removing dishes from kitchen will result in eviction"
