After reading some of these reviews, I can see that this establishment is relying on its previous reputation to bring in customers. The service I received today certainly does not live up to this. I have to say that the caesar salad I received was probably the worst salad I have had at a cafe, and at around $18, is probably one of the most expensive. The bacon was well over cooked, and had a chewy 'beef jerky' type of consistency. When I brought this to the manager's attention, he was very blase about it, and didn't really seem to care. My partner's meal was described as a 'tower'. When it came out, it was in no way towering. All in all it was a very disappointing experience. It is a very pricey cafe so I would have expected more. I will not be returning.

Had birthday dessert here a few weeks ago and it was sooo delicious! Coffee is great and staff were nice. Only problem was a mix up with my booking - some of my guests arrived earlier than me, so they thought a new group had come and called me saying they'd give it to this 'new' group as I was a bit late. I thought this odd as there were heaps of empty tables at that time of night? Anyway, my fault for being late I guess! Otherwise, been here a few times and really love it. More restaurants should be themed like this one!

You can't go wrong with Circus. Food is always impeccable, coffee is smooth & the waiting staff are friendly. A fantastic place for brunch, dinner or dessert.

I have usually avoided this place for breakfast as its super busy but we got in early last Thursday morning. I can now understand why they are busy, great service, food and presentation. Can't fault it!!

With several cafe/restaurant options in Mount Eden, Circus Circus is often so busy and crowded I usually just give it a miss and walk past on my way to any of the other places along the same road. However, a mid-week dinner can be a pleasant experience. There weren't too many people around, for a change, during my last visit. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was relaxing. There were spanish lessons going on on a table nearby and a wedding planner going through the bride's to do list, making for an interesting end of the afternoon. The food was delicious. My friend and I chose the fish of the day (it was fresh gurnard that day) and the eye fillet steak, which was beautifully cooked. For dessert, we tried the raspberry creme brulee I had eyed up on my way in, and a huge piece of carrot cake with cream cheese icing. They were both great and the cake was very moist. Prices were average and, considering the atmosphere, the location and the quality of the food, we left feeling like we had paid a fair price. Great evening, would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing meal or even just a coffee.

Circus Cafe is funky and has great service. Our Carrot Cake was to die for & my hot chocolate was so big it was almost a meal in itself!! Highly Recommended!

This is the best cafe that I reckon in Auckland. I've been to lots of cafes but I still love Circus. They offer nice food, coffees and very good service. I feel really comfortable when I go there everytime. They never make me down and all I can say is I support Circus and hope they can still keep it up.

Had high expectations as it is always busy. However, it was hard to find somewhere to sit and felt cramped. The coffee was great but limited food selection. Its rather fun the way it is set out but I felt it was over-rated

Not gonna lie, with all the awards this place has won my expectations were probably a li'l high. There is always a huge line of people pouring out the door, so naturally they must be doing something right. However, the food is fairly typical, the staff were friendly enough, and the coffee was average. There's not much wrong with this place, but I don't really get all the hype about it.

This place has amazing atmosphere!! The staff are friendly and always welcoming. The food is divine, the chocolate cake is my favorite.

Came here for dessert after dinner and had their hot chocolate in a bowl. Unique circus theme setting with lots of different cozy seating areas. Loved the heaters throughout the place and the staff were nice and friendly.

I really like this place, but boy does it get busy on the weekends! Very clean, a wide range of quite different environments under the one roof. Love the gas heaters - so nice!! I usually get the Eggs Benedict which is consistently good.

Went for dinner and was pleasantly surprised. Great service and fantastic food. Was too full to have dessert, but their cabinet was full of yummy looking treats to have. Would be one of my favourite cafes in Mt Eden village.

A generally great cafe. They do yummy brunches, reasonably priced evening meals and have a great selection of cabinet foods. They have a great selection of magazines if you want to chill out while enjoying your coffee and a cool circus theme.
