We operate as a parent owned and administered association and are one of NZs leading Montessori schools, with large and well-resourced classrooms and outdoor environments. The junior school offers a three year programme where 3 to 6 year olds engage in a wide range of activities to satisfy their changing needs.
The junior school is a purpose built facility set in 1.5 hectares of open play areas and native trees. The primary school builds on these foundations whilst responding to the child's expanding view of the world. Montessori developed the concept of Cosmic Education as a means of introducing children to the universe, enabling them to identify their place within it, as well as their responsibilities towards it.
The primary students operate as a community of joyful scholars. They utilise inquiry-based learning to underpin the academic programme, which is integrated with the NZ State curriculum at Moturoa School. It is recognised by the Ministry of Education as a 'Class of Special Character' within the Moturoa state school.
Staff to student ratios are high in both the junior and primary classes, providing your child with a high degree of individual attention. Individual teaching based on different learning styles and stages of development allows your child to develop to his/her full potential in a nurturing, respectful environment. The Montessori Association has a commitment to employing highly qualified and experienced staff. Qualifications include the NZ early childhood and primary qualifications, and Montessori teaching diplomas.
