5th October 2010 I have been to Hislops 3 times in the past 2 years, I don't think much has improved since my second visit.
To be fair the first time for breakfast was nice, both the service and food. Feeling peckish on visit number 2, about 14 months ago we ordered nachos and wedges, both came out burnt and the nachos were uneatable, we were not asked to pay for them and offered the chance to have a new plate made but if you go to somewhere that is classed as fine dining you don't expect something that burnt to even be sent out.
This weekend just been, well there were a lot of people in town due to a festival but we got a table in the morning, just before the place was packed out, service was friendly however the bread with everyone's breakfast was hard, I cut the crusts off mine so I could get to the bread. There were 8 of us and about 2 people were happy with the food.
