In the late 1950s, Charles Pollion built the first MarinePower engine for a La Fitte skiff, a classic shrimp boat well-known in Louisiana waters. Customer satisfaction and product reliability were top priority to Pollion, who worked closely with his customers to provide commercial-grade engines that would meet the industry's heavy demands and withstand the severe conditions of the gulf.

Pollion's power plants quickly earned a reputation for superior performance and reliability and, one by one, MarinePower engines replaced longstanding name brands in the commercial market. The company was purchased in 1984 by a new group with the engineering and financial strength to take the company to a new level. They envisioned taking MarinePower's renowned performance and reliability to the growing recreational boating market.

In making the expansion, the new management retained the company's practice of listening closely to its boatbuilding customers while maintaining a commitment to exceptional customer service, product quality and reliability. Today, MarinePower engines are ranked at the top of the recreational boating industry in terms of sport-specific performance, state-of-the-art technology and reliability.
