At a massive 830 sq metres the new showroom is twice the size of the original Asko store in Victoria Street. This means the range of furniture, and homewares will be greatly expanded. "In anticipation of the bigger space we increased our purchase of overseas furniture during the past few months and acquired additional warehouse space to accommodate the overflow,' Graeme says. "So on opening day there will be so much more for our customers to choose from."
Graeme had some particular specifications for the new space - it had to have a polished concrete floor to show off furniture to best advantage; it had to have a suspended ceiling to create a more intimate ambiance and it had to have air-conditioning and heating, which the old brick building in Victoria Street did not have. "We have fulfilled our vision of a modern contemporary store to complement the modern contemporary range of homeware and furniture we stock."
