Small country hotel in Ophir, a place of extremes. It is the coldest place recorded in N.Z. at 21.6 deg. below, it also has a high recorded at 35.2 deg. Our town is of historical value with some buildings aging back to the 1860's. The old suspension bridge has just turned 125 years old. We have quite a few other old buildings worthy of checking out as well.
The Hotel itself was built in 1937 and is of Art Deco design. It is to a large degree unchanged both inside and out.
