20th January 2014 Stopped on the drive home from Wanaka, heading to Dunedin. We had low expectations when we saw the bleak white block building, but we were very pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff and great grub. The meals were good, large, and cheap ($20 mains). The staff were friendly locals who were happy to chat. The kitchen was just off the bar, so we were able to see the chef work her magic - she mixed the beer batter for the fish under the beer taps. The only down side was the price of the drinks - $8 for a pint, $6 for half a pint. If you are on the road and want to stop for a hearty good quality meal then look no further.
