16th August 2010 These great people have been providing NZ's FINEST fish and chips since 1967. They do keep unusual hours 6.00 AM to 6.00 PM Mon-Friday and close about 1.00 PM Saturday Afternoon. Closed all Sunday. NO frozen chips here ! all hand-made fresh on their immaculate "A" rated premises, where they also traditionally smoke their own fish. PRICES are very cheap, but do note that the fish portions are small (and FRESH & DELICIOUS) I eat there every week and always buy at least 4 pieces of fish and at least three dollars worth of their FANTASTIC chips, (JUST for ME alone) which I request to be "cooked crisp". If you want to buy fresh fish to cook at home ? just look in their window to see freshness that it has become hard to find in Auckland city anywhere, and at prices a wee bit cheaper than what you pay around the wharf areas of downtown Auckland. At one time (IE 30 years ago) Most NZ fish and chip shops were this GOOD, but as most have been sold-off as cash-flow businesses to owners who do NOT EAT potatoes, and care more about profits than quality ? (IE Frozen POOP passed off as being "chips") and hideous types of fish sold as "edible" IE Hoki, Cardinal et al. Marsic Brothers lead the way. CERTAINLY this is so in the entire Auckland metropolitan area, and PROBABLY are the very BEST in all of New Zealand. TRY them and you will NOT be disappointed (Say "Dr. Phill." recommended them)
