Our food was good but nothing special, a little bit pricey perhaps, definitely one of the fancier Thai restaurants out there. A really extensive menu with a lot of vegetarian options.

Mai Thai is AMAZING! The food is delicious, with great service, and the fact it's BYO in the city makes it the perfect place to come for dinner with a group of friends. We often have birthday dinners here as with the BYO and the reasonable price of food, its great for us budget conscious students.

The food here is fantastic!! A little dissapointed when the waiter had forgotten to give our order to the chef, but when we finally did get our food it was well worth the wait!

We came here as part of a work function and ordered one of the set menu type options. The food was fantastic. If you are after a Thai restaurant which provides Authentic (and well spiced) Thai food then Mai Tai is for you

Best to book ahead or at least get in early to this place - it's always packed! And rightly so. Nothing I put together even remotely resembles their fabulous Seafood Tom Yum Soup. The Pineapple Fried Rice (served in a HALF PINEAPPLE no less!) goes exceptionally well with any of their fabulously fragrant curry dishes - go the Green Curry! Wife's favourite is the Raw Chilli & Garlic Prawns - oooh definitely NOT for the faint-hearted! I DARE you to order this fiery one. But take my advice, order a LARGE jug of Lime Juice well in advance...

I have been here once after a show at Sky city - great location, in the heart of the city. The food was fantastic and the service was great. Will definitly go back

This place is the business, it's not the best thai food in Auckland but it certainly has the best atmosphere. I like my food spicy but very few places can actually make really spicy, but these guys make it hot like fire. Highly Recommend

I haven't been to Mai Thai for years, but had the pleasure of going there on Saturday night following a girl's day out at the spa. The food was as I remembered it, delicious! What I love about Mai Thai is the selection - the menu goes far beyond standard Thai dishes and has a sensational selection of seafood. The service is also great - in our group we had one person who was gluten-free and they went to great lengths to ensure she enjoyed her meal. To top it all the prices are very reasonable. Can't wait to go back.

It could be construed that I have a wee bit of an addiction to Mai Thais when the bar staff know exactly what wine to pour for me while I wait for my table. It could be a little embarassing when my group is shown to a table (that I have not pre-booked) ahead of patrons that have arrived before me. When Thaweek and the team chat with my group to catch up on new news since our last visit, I'm pretty sure people wonder why the familiarity Maybe other diners think I'm a famous person in disguise Maybe they don't Mai Thais is my old faithful. It's rustic ambiance with exposed brick walls, pleasant and welcoming staff, and fresh authentic Thai cuisine that neatly sits in the 'comfort' basket easily beats out other inner city restaurants when casual, relaxed, tasty and filling is on my menu. Perhaps you should put them on your casual dining menu, too

If you love Thai food, Mai Thai is arguably one of the best authentic Thai restaurants around Auckland. The dishes are absolutely delicious, staff are friendly, service is prompt and the atmosphere of the place is fantastic. Most dishes have ‘spice levels’ so you know what to expect! I recommend their pork larb sawan, and pla manao - especially if you love lemony spicy goodness.
