14th July 2012 I too have had dealings with PC Gear; Like the people above it took over a month for them to order in a graphic card and only because I phoned them more than once as well as going into the store making face to face inquiries. Found the person running the place to be rude & arrogant. Will still shop at PC Gear if I need anything urgently and think their is a possibility they carry the product in store, otherwise most items are ordered online from computer shops in the North Island and in most cases products are received 1 to 2 days after payment. Dunedin lacks a decent computer shop. PC Gear is not the only computer shop in Dunedin to have these issues but that is another story.

28th March 2012 More than a year ago I ordered from this company and never received any product. Despite repeated phonecalls and emails, my money has never been returned; in short, they've stolen from me. I really wish I'd known what a bad reputation they've developed before losing my money to them.

24th August 2011 Ordered a new pci graphics card that was advertised on the website at a sale price and showing in stock. I paid up front and was prepared a small delay at the end of a holiday season, after a week of normal trading days I asked for an ETA and was told that it would arrive within a couple of days. A few days later I went in and they did not have the card because there had a supposed theft of a courier van that had my card in it! ... many phone calls (which often went unanswered) and visits into the store on days I was promised it would be there, my card had still not arrived. I asked for a refund but only the manager could approve it... When I caught the store owner out after his employee lied to say he was not in town, he gave me excuses of why he could not refund me that day. Many emails and avoided telephone calls later the owner finally refunded me 1 month after my initial payment.
There is a lot more to this story (how the advertised price was 'too low' and I would have to front more money to get a lesser card, threats of violence against me) but be assured that it really opened my eyes; I did not until then realize that small businesses could operate in such a poor manner.
I have spoken to several other people who have had very similar stories. It has become apparent that the store does not have any regard for service and only serves to trap people into buying junk at an unreasonable price.
BE WARNED: STAY AWAY FROM PC GEAR!

29th April 2010 PC Gear seem to have a problem with suppliers
sourcing and sending products to them. On 2 occasions, several
months apart, i've used them for my purchases. In the 1st instance i
bought a 24inch
Viewsonic screen, which was listed on the website as 'in stock at
suppliers'. It took a month to arrive in Dunedin, and this was only
because they managed to find an alternate supplier for the product. My
2nd purchase was a custom built Desktop system. There was
a month wait on my system, and when it was delivered there were scratches on my case, and they'd given me the wrong graphics card i'd asked for. I'm
well informed & experienced in average international and national
transit times for freight, these month long waits have seemed
entirely excessive.. Since then, the graphics card dilemma has been resolved, but i can't help but wonder what is going on behind the scenes at PC Gear... we all know the old saying "good
things take time", I just wish that the
good things from PC GEAR took LESS time.
