16th November 2006 People join an organisation like Toastmasters to gain confidence in speaking in public, often because they know they'll have to in the future. Every Club aims to provide a supportive learning environment to help you do that - but Maungakiekie does this better than most. It has a good mix of experienced and newer members and attracts a wide age range. The mixture of fun and enthusiasm guarantees that anyone who wants to learn and gain confidence before an audience can do so at their own pace. The Club is also very involved with the wider running of the organisation, meaning those who want to extend their skills can get a great start.
Meetings are open to everyone, visiting costs you nothing and there are no "hard sell" sessions at the end. For those who want to gain or improve skills and confidence, and want to have fun doing it, I can't think of a better place to get started. Yes, I am a member, so maybe a touch biased - but all the above is why I keep up my membership.
