Maketu is a Contributing Primary up to year 6 .The school increases its level of Bi Lingual Te Reo Maori to level 2 at year 6.The school has a roll of 114.The school serves a collective are of Maketu village,Little Waihi and a few from Te Puke.
The school produces students who go on to excell at subsequent schools.The Current Head girl and the captain of the Te Puke High School 1st xv both went to Maketu Primary School.
