Cheap and cheerful! The staff are friendly, the restaurant's clean, and the service is fast. There's also plenty of space, and the staff are happy for you to linger after eating. I tend to get the satay vegetables on rice; great value at only around $6.50 (lunch or dinner). The iced coffees are also cheap (around $2.50), and quite refreshing.

I returned to the NSNH for the first time in a couple of years while visiting Dunedin. I was quite pleased to see that it hasn't changed much at all. It has always been a good cheap meal, which is why I frequented the place so often as a student. NSNH would probably never win awards for decor or service (the staff seem preoccupied, and I remember them arguing openly with each other in the kitchen), but in my opinion it is one of the charms. I always felt like I was walking into someones home for a meal as opposed to a restaurant, and the welcome is always genuine. If you want silver service then this is not the place for you, but if you want great food at more than a reasonable price and a relaxed atmosphere then look no further. I will definitey return whenever I can!

Good range of cheap and tasty Asian dishes. Nice to see they finally have EFTPOS. Rather startling colour scheme, and you may have to compete with takeaway diners. Good place for a quick lunch or evening meal if you are more interested in the food than the atmosphere. Satay dishes tend to have a bit too much added sugar.
