Nestled away in an old chocolate factory is one of Auckland's best keep secrets.
Nestled away in an old chocolate factory is one of Auckland's best keep secrets.
Open for lunch Monday through Friday and dinner Monday through Saturday, is an establishment that has consistently proven itself to be one of Auckland's top restaurants.
Since 1994 Cibo has been one of the favourite haunts for those "in the know". Outrageous rumours initiated over champagne, business deals sealed with a cleansing ale.
Cibo has been moulded by a scrupulous hand, creating an atmosphere of splendour to be enjoyed by all. Unobtrusive professionalism from waiting staff take their lead from Maitre d' Jeremy Turner. Cibo offers alfresco dining in the private courtyard during the balmy summer. Life's troubles melt away when enveloped in the atmosphere of unadulterated pleasure and relaxation.
The award-winning kitchen is presided over by the indomitable Kate Fay. Seasonal availability of produce necessitates regular revision of the menu, however familiarity is usually only a mouthful away. A menu for the pleasure of the palate based on the taste of the ingredients not the whims of the trend magazines allows the blending of exotic and familiar produce in such a fashion as to hint at a home-cooked meal.
Regarded as one of the finest wedding venues in Auckland, Cibo is invariably booked on Saturdays during the nuptial season. Be warned, bookings for a Cibo wedding should be made well in advance (1 to 2 weeks before you buy the engagement ring to be safe). Many years' experience has allowed the Cibo team to assist in making both the planning and the actual event flow in a calm, flawless manner.

Wonderful first experience at Cibo (after I finally found the location :)! Our group had great service throughout the night and all the food was not only well plated but also tasted delicious. My favorites were the Cibo Swagger cocktail and doughnuts for dessert! Ambience at restaurant was also inviting and warm. Thanks Cibo

I am or was a big fan of Cibo. However we were there a couple of Saturdays ago and I have a gripe with service. We chose to have sparking water, and as a result later in the evening our glasses were filled to the brim to allow another bottle of Antipodes to be opened. Seems petty, but feels a bit of a waste. Likewise when ordering mains we asked for fries and a couple of salads for the table. We were given fries and 6 other sides. Admittedly a table of 7 but they were big portions and it is a waste. One of the party asked for doggie bags as we probably ate only 1/4 of the sides. Again pretty pushy to get the bill up. In general we dont need any help to spend plenty!

The best service I have experienced in Auckland. Little wonder Cibo remains an Auckland favourite.

So nice to go to an elegant and sophistocated yet simple restaurant - this place is about quality and great service, it doesn't need a gimic of any kind. Great dishes for vegetarians but for the meateater in you the venison dusted in licorice is to die for.

My favourite restaurant in Auckland. Food is always fantastic, consistent and devine. Staff go out of their way to make you comfortable and relaxed. I thoroughly enjoy my dining experience every time I dine here.

Absolutely a 5 star restaurant. The food and service at Cibo are impeccable right from the first point of contact. When booking the table the waiter asked if it was a special occassion; it was; I told him that it was my partners birthday, he asked what his name was, and told me that they would do something special for him. After our delicious, well balanced and flavoursome meals, two of the lovely waiters came out with a beautifully decorated plate of chocolate brownies with a candle, with "Happy Birthday Simon" written in chocolate sauce. The staff at Cibo took it upon themselves to do this for us and it was a lovely surprise, was free of charge, and great way to finish a fantastic dining experience.
