6th June 2013 As we applied for rental properties in Tauranga and Mount Maunganui through Eves, we were told by the receptionist that we weren't the sort of customers that would suit their rental properties as we are "young travellers" (A couple Aged 24 and 25 years old, + 2 males aged 24) "and would just party and wreck the place". The receptionist totally disregarded our excellent references from previous rental properties and wished us luck in finding a house to rent.
After leaving the shop the shock and humiliation of what had just happened started to sink in. We all stood in the street in total disbelief. Here were 3 fantastic rental properties, all within our price range in excellent areas of town that we couldn't rent because we misjudged and labelled upon meeting a receptionist.
We wrote an E-mail to Eves Mount Maunganui explaining our situation and the unprofessional manner in which we had been treated, we had no reply. So we wrote a similar e-mail to the head of another branch of Eves and within 24 hours we had a response apologizing for the unacceptable service and we were assured a rental property.
After a 6 month lease with no correspondence from the rental agent, we submitted out intention to leave the periodic lease agreement and three weeks
later we moved out. We waited 3 weeks for any news on the bond return. I personally chased our letting agent up asking for news as to when we would get our bond back. We were told that it had already been submitted. A week later still nothing!! And by now we were getting pretty irate. Calling, emailing and texting the agent to find out what was going on, even though we were told she would call and let us know what was going on.
TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL, PREJUDICE AGAINST YOUNG PEOPLE AND TRAVELLERS, NOT TRUE TO THEIR WORD... EVES REALTY LTD
