10th July 2010 Mt Eden Fish and Chips is my favourite fish and chip shop in Auckland. Most times you get a choice of snapper or tarahiki. They cook it well, the chips are great, plus you can also get kumera chips which are just fantastic. The prices are a bit on the steep side but the fresh fish and excellent cooking make it worth the trip for me
Mt Eden Village Fish Shop is a modern style fishmonger selling a wide range of fresh seafood and seafood products.
We aim to sell the best fish and chips in Auckland and provide the freshest fish in town. We have an outstanding food hygiene record, earning an "Golden A' over the last 3 years operation
7th September 2013 Appallingly bad value. $21 spent on fish and chips, and my wife and I are still starving. We're not big eaters (my wife is a small Japanese woman). The scoops of chips are the smallest in Auckland (can't imagine what the half-scoops are like!)and cost $6 each! Complete rip off. The fish was nice and fresh, but all that's done is made me more hungry! How can a $6 scoop of chips not be enough for 1 person? I just can't see the point of a chip shop skimping on chips.

7th September 2010 Stopped in on Friday night to pick up some fish and chips for tea, had read good things about this place and wanted to try it out for myself. The place did not smell awful and fishy and I thought the prices were quite reasonable for the fish itself - considering it looked to be so fresh. The chips I thought were over priced at $6.00 a scoop, but we hoped they were worth it. On devouring the feast I think the chips were ok, I don't know about $6.00 a scoop though but maybe on the odd occassion would buy again. The fish was definitely fresh and beautiful - but I felt that the flour coating the fish mad the batter quite thick and gluggy and had trouble enjoying this. My boyfriend thought the same. So pricey chips and slightly gluggy batter on the fish - but the fresh fish made all the difference.

23rd July 2010 It sounds like a nasty-as fish shop, and as I walk in I prepare myself as I imagine it would stink like a fish monger's joint, but no - it's pretty clean and stylee and it's a fish and chip shop too - a pretty damn good one at that. I was just going in to pick up some salmon or snapper for a fancy dinner I'd been sucked into cooking, and I decided to nip away with some hot chips too. Wise choice. Good place for Friday nights or your home cooked meal.
