Helene was born in Wellington and as an infant her family moved to Auckland. She grew up in Howick and currently resides in Whitford. It wasn't until late 2005 when attending classes of well renowned artist and tutor, John Horton, that Helene discovered her passion to paint. She is deeply inspired by the beautiful New Zealand landscapes and Seascapes and is strongly influenced by the native fauna and gorgeous beaches of the Coromandel Peninsula where she holidayed every year with her family at Hahei.
Helene paints with acrylics and enjoys the versatility and colour that can be achieved. She loves to experiment with light, shadows and reflections and delights in the moods that can be created.
Helene joined the Howick Art Group and successfully sold several paintings in her first exhibition with the Group. Over the next few years whilst experimenting in different styles, she continued to sell her artwork to buyers nationally and overseas.
Helene has received the following Awards;
Estuary Artworks 2009 - "People's Choice" Award
Estuary Artworks 2010 - "People's Choice" Award.
Helene welcomes enquiries regarding her artwork and is happy to discuss commissions. She has a very supportive husband, family and friends and longs to pursue her dream of full-time painting.
