4th November 2010 These people GET it! I wanted a light, tasty lunch and was recommended to try the beef carpaccio salad with capers. It arrived with perfect timing, beautifully presented. Melting beef that looked jewel-like on the plate, perfectly complemented by the zing of capers and crunch of fresh, peppery rocket. Quality olive oil and freshly baked bread. Nothing to hide here. Staff were attentive and charming, the music full of effortless cool, and the decor is classy. If only more restaurants were like this - can't wait to go back!
30th November 2010 We took our out-of-town friends here for a Friday night dinner and we were all impressed - great food, reasonably priced, and a buzzy, lively atmosphere without any pretentiousness. The staff were attentive and friendly. Would very happily dine there again.

15th July 2010 My experience here was slightly tainted by the being served Antipodes water without being requested. At $10 a bottle I think they should've asked if we wanted it first! Not sure if they just go ahead and give that to everyone or not. Otherwise the food was great and they catered for a gluten & dairy free meal without any problems. There was a delay with one meal which they were honest about although no compensation for the fact that the fish had changed from snapper to gurnard. A busy, lively place with great atmosphere.

30th June 2010 The food here is absolutely divine, the service impeccable. Ponsonby Bistro is definitely worthy of more than one visit; however, it's best to book in advance so that you're not squeezed into the tables along the wall at the rear of the restaurant. They're not the best for a quiet or intimate meal, as the tables are placed very close together so you can hear everything your neighbours are saying. Still, definitely remains a favourite – and we will return.

8th June 2010 Warm and friendly with great staff. This is the type of restaurant I want to keep going back to again and again. You know that feeling when you want to try everything on the menu?
