The Steak House to end all arguments.
BarryL
The Steak House to end all arguments. It is rare to find a steak this well done and the Master Chef challenges you to do so! The Jervois Steak House became an overnight success after opening in late November 2006 . Viva Magazine gave it an extremely rare 5 out of 5 rating, one week after launch. Sigley and Gault embarked on a marathon mission across both coasts of the US, sourcing the perfect mix to establish a legendary fine Steak House. Gault imported specialized meat cookers to cater for the varying meat cuts. The Steak House dcor is elegant black, red and white with upstairs and downstairs dining, a private dining room for 12 - 14 and a saloon bar which is refined, but a lot of fun.

The queen cut steak is the best steak I've ever had. Staff are excellent, even the cutlery is great. Love this place!

Great food and service - even the non-beef fans will find great treasures on the menu (the calamari schnitzel is my favourite)

Incredible On the Friday of 27th August headed over for dinner at Jervois. Service was amazing the staff was ever attentive very friendly and profesional, they had a keen sense of humour and were extremely easy to start a conversation with. The food as outstanding, the meat cooked aboslutely perfectly, at 470g the rump steak was massive! accompanied bya n amazing horderadish sauce the meal was absolutely fabolous. Would highly recommend anyone to head over there fo an amazing experience! The price of the meal is most defiantely justified by the impeccable service and gorgeous food.

Absolutely outstanding dining experience. Service was impeccable and food was sensational. The staff were very well trained and their personalities and humour really added to the occasion. The Angus eye fillet on the bone was perfectly cooked and to die for! We will definitely be back in numbers!!

This could possibly be my favourite restaurant so far. The truffle mashed potatoes is life changing! You need to book well in advance to come here as it is very popular, but the waiters are lovely and your food is served in a decent amount of time. Also great wine selection here and worth spending the money to spoil yourself.

One word - WOW! Everything from start to finish was amazing. Outstanding service with a number of staff making our dining experience all that more enjoyable. Friendly, efficient and knowledgeable - superb. Then there is the food, which was phenomenal! Entrees, mains, sauces, side dishes, desert - all were melt in your mouth. Will definitely be back.. Thanks JSH!

Very pricey but very good all round. Impressed my partner with a steak from stock raised near his hometown which was a coincedence. The crab entree was pretty small for the price but the mains made up for it

Fabulous food and great service. Huge wine list (pricey!!) Waiter was very attentive, knew his steaks and the origin. My friend was very impressed there was a T.Bone on the menu that originated from the area he grew up in. Very busy for a week night. Had a booking but had to wait in the bar for half an hour which wasnt in the plan though.

The fact that a restaurant is full is an indicator of the dining public’s perception of the establishment and restaurants like the Jervoise Steak House that are generally full not surprisingly become noisy. This phenomenon is particularly apparent when the female percentage of diners is high. If you prefer a steak devoid of sinew, you should select eye fillet, all other cuts will have some sinew. As to the criticism of being undercooked and tough with a flavorless sauce; did you complain and give the restaurant at least a chance to put things right? Diners that wait until they have left the restaurant to complain are in a class all of their own. Not prepared to justify their dissatisfaction they hide, as you have, behind a keyboard and try to inflict as much pain as possible leaving the defenseless restaurateur with not a whisper of a chance to rise to the standard expected but never articulated. Had you said you were unhappy, I as a frequent diner at the Jervoise Steak House, would be absolutely stunned if the team had not moved heaven and earth to atone for what you found wanting. My suggestion to you is that you should try and develop enough confidence in your culinary judgment to complain when things are not right and give those whose task it is to please you a chance to do just that. Meantime and until you mature, I suggest you concentrate on your promise to eat your hat. It may be that it will be more to your taste.

Place was full and hellish noisy. Had steak (of course). Had better in lots of other restaurants. It was tough, sinewy and slightly undercooked. Had the peppercorn and brandy sauce with it. Absolutely no flavour. If this is the premier steak house in Auckland then I will eat my hat.
