Our experience with Richard and Val couldn't be faulted. The booking was done by email and everything went smoothly. We were even given a discount for booking two motor homes. Upon arrival at Greymouth on the spectacular Trans-Alpine rail service, Richard greeted us with the news that one of his vans had mechanical problems, so he had to sub-rent on from Sunrise Holidays next door. This turned out to be a bonus as the Sunrise motorhome was the next model up, providing even more room. Overall we had a fantastic time with both motorhomes and would definitely talk to Richard next time we are in NZ

November/ December 2011 We booked everything by email from England. Everything was ready when we arrived to pick up the van. The instructions we got from Richard, the owner, on how to use the van were excellent. We hired a toyota coaster motorhome for 31 days. It was fantastic. Very easy to drive and equiped with everything you needed.We travelled around the north and south islands, going across on the ferry which was very easy. My wife and I took our 6 foot 25 year old son with us. There was plenty of room for him to sleep at the front of the motorhome. The best thing about the toyota coaster was that it different than all the other white campervans going round New Zealand and had plenty of room. We booked the ferries in advance but did not need to book any of the campsites as there was plenty of space. We finished travelling on the 13th December. You would probably have to book the campsites if you went later in the year. We can highly recommend this company. Everything they did was perfect. We also recommend you hire the toyota coaster, it was brilliant.

We hired a campervan from Road Abode for our winter holiday. The camper was a great machine equipped with everything we needed. All the bedding and towels were really nice just like a hotel. Richard explained everything well and went out of his way to make sure we were happy. We are going to recommend Road Abode to all our friends. Well Done Richard and Val at Road Abode

Having just completed a six week stint in one of Road Abobe's great campers, I would happily recommend them to any adventurers wanting to taste New Zealand's many scenic delights from behind the wheel of a very comfortable, clean and well maintained vehicle. The freedom of the open road is so much more enjoyable when you can bring the comforts of home with you. I hired the Toyota Cruiser, one of their older style vehicles, it was a delight to drive and more than powerful enough to not feel like you were holding up traffic, not that there is much traffic on the roads of NZ. The Toyota also seemed to give me some road cred as lots of people in similar vehicles would give me a wave as they drove in the opposite direction. The vehicles are fully equipped for onboard cooking right down to the real glass wine glasses. Nice! Not everything was perfect, a couple of things worked intermittently, but Richard was quick to respond with repairs. I will be coming back.

We had a wonderful trip away in one of your camper vans. It had every thing we needed and it was very clean. We met up with two other family's of four who were keen to take your details for future holidays. Every thing was explained how it worked by Richard before we left and it all worked perfectly. We had a great time and will be doing it again. We had a camper van previously off another person and found yours a way better design for a family of four (especially with teenagers) and also your camper van handled way better on the road than our previous experience. Well Done. Keep up the good work. PPTA

Unpleasant hiring experience. Filthy interior, parking tickets on dashboard from previous year, leaking fresh water tank, faulty monitors for both fresh and grey water. Toilet waste indicator not working and nearly all flyscreens broken. No road maps, campsite or dump station info on vehicle. A days rental lost while the vehicle was in for repair,a replacement campervan was refused. No refund, despite promise for bottled gas and toilet sanitiser etc. Credit card charged without my permission for acknowledged minor damage and no invoice provided for works undertaken. My credit card company took a dim view, intervened and a full refund was made to me. Seriously would not recommend.
