St Mary’s Preschool in Otahuhu is a unique learning environment for children aged 0 to 5 years from all backgrounds and ethnicities and offers families quality, affordable childcare.

Children at our preschool at St Mary’s Family Centre in Otahuhu explore, discover and grow in a rich, stimulating environment where they interact with caring, supportive adults.

Like all of St Marys preschool integrated services, St Mary’s preschool aims to protect and nurture children and their families and to give them new learning opportunities.

CHILD PSYCHOTHERAPY SERVICES

ATWC’s Child Psychotherapy Services focus on children’s inner feelings and understandings and how they see and experience their environment.

Registered psychotherapists at ATWC work offering children a safe and trusting environment in a well-equipped playroom, where they use play and language to explore and understand feelings such as fear, sadness, hurt, anger, anxiety or confusion about themselves, their family or other aspects of their lives.

COUNSELLING IN SCHOOLS

ATWC has some primary school-based counsellors who offer children individual or group sessions. We currently offer Counselling in Schools at Wymondley Road School and Te Papapa School.

We also offer programmes tailored to meet specific needs such as building self-esteem, developing social skills and dealing with grief and loss.

COUNSELLING SERVICES

ATWC counsellors work with individuals, couples or families to help them learn more about themselves and their relationships so they can make the positive changes they want in their lives, especially in relation to their children’s wellbeing.

Our experienced counsellors have high professional and ethical standards and our counselling sessions – which usually last between 60 and 90 minutes – are available to people of all ethnic and spiritual backgrounds.

GRANGER GROVE

Granger Grove is a three-stage residential, family care programme which enables mothers to make a fresh start in a secure, supportive environment in ATWC’s tranquil, spacious grounds.

ATWC’s skilled social workers, counsellors, child psychotherapists and caregivers help mothers learn new parenting and home-making skills including cooking, budgeting and establishing good household routines.

MELLOW PARENTING

Mellow Parenting is a one-day-a-week programme that is funded by Counties Manukau District Health Board to support families who have significant relationship or parenting problems with children aged under five.

Following an assessment, families living in the Counties Manukau area can attend Mellow Parenting free of charge.

Social Work Services

ATWC’s Social Work Services include Family Start and Social Workers in Schools.

Our Social Work Services are integrated with ATWC’s Family Services and Early Childhood Education Services – taking a holistic approach to protecting and nurturing children, young people and their families so they can enjoy the happy, healthy lives they deserve.

FAMILY START

ATWC’s Family Start programme is early intervention, home visiting service targeted at vulnerable families in Central Auckland with children aged 0 and three years.
