Te Aro Tenancies offer short and long term accommodation includes apartments, flats, and rooms to university students and working professionals in Central Wellington, New Zealand.
13th April 2013 Me and a few other mates are living in one of the apartments for about 2 years. My tenancy experience with them is excellent so far. Their staff is easy to deal with whenever I need help. Me myself is a uni student but I have not been treated like other property managers- they just don't care about students! Te Aro Tenancies is definitely one of the property managers I would recommend to my friends!
3rd November 2014 Worst communication from a property managers I have ever dealt with. I'm also having trouble with the amount of staff they have to the amount of properties they deal with to justify the care and desire they have for our issuse

26th April 2013 I was renting with Te Aro Tenancies for two years with a leaky bedroom and it took one and half years of continual asking on my part for them to finally fix the problem properly.
For weeks at a time I could not live in my bedroom and had to sleep in the lounge and move all my furniture in there. This was because it was so damp in my room that when you stood on the floor, pools of water would emerge from the carpet.
They tried to claim for a long time that it was just "condensation" to avoid having to pay for repair. I had furniture damaged because of their negligence and they refused to pay for any costs, telling me to just claim insurance.
They sent in contractors many times, who would come in and look at the problem and not see them again for months.
If they had addressed the issue properly to begin with they could have saved lots of time, money, my personal possessions and my health from living in such a damp room.
Likewise when our ventilation system was broken it took a month to even get it looked at.
I recommend if you are renting with them to get any deal you make with them in writing rather than just verbal.
The property in itself was fine, just poorly maintained and cheap. The staff are friendly enough to deal with, but have been very incompetent with communication.
In short, I would never rent from this company again and I wouldn't recommend renting from this company.

18th January 2013 We lived at the apartment building on Thorndon Quay that this company runs for several years. During that time Te Aro tenancies only performed one inspection and the standard of the common area went from bad to worse to unbearable. Their management of the property was disgraceful!
The office staff at the company never picked up the phone and would take weeks to respond to an email. Very poor communication skills.
Finally when we moved out of the property they unduly tried to take an extra week of rent out of our bond.
If you can at all avoid it do not rent a property from Te Aro Tenancies!
