17th October 2012 The Commons is truly an exquisite dining experience. From the doorman opening the door for us, to the maitre d' that greeted us inside. It was tempting to stay downstairs in the upbeat, classy environment to try the tapas menu, but we opted to dine upstairs and feast on the chefs tantalizing menu offered by the maitre d'. Upstairs we thoroughly enjoyed an evening of fine dining experience. All the staff are gave world class service, they were friendly, well informed of the menu and extensive wine list, and made us feel completely pampered and looked after us for the evening. The atmosphere is warm, classy, creative and vibey with really great background music. The food is INCREDIBLE!! Colourful, fresh, creative that made my taste buds dance with joy. So many different flavours, textures and tastes! Looking forward to going back and trying out the tapas menu. I'm sure it will be our new summer spot with the outside bar and lounge couches - bliss!!
28th November 2014 I just had lunch with my wife, but there was a hair in my wife's meal (found it at the first bite). The staff offered my wife a free meal for another one, but we did not have time to wait for another meal. We refused the offer and left without touching the other meal, but they still charged me.
Totally ruin my day!!

7th February 2013 I was totally delighted with the food and service at the Commons. I went there for diner in the evening on Waitangi day and was impressed that there was no surchage. The food was exceptional. The symphony of flavours in each dish was a wonderful discovery with each mouthful. The service was really good - attentive, friendly and efficient.
The only down side was that we were sitting upstairs by the window and the sun was shining in and very uncomfortable. I should have asked for another table. Also, the chairs, could be more comfortable.
An exceptional dinner and will definately recommend and make a return visit.

1st November 2012 Unfortunately the staff were considerably unhelpful, and worse, unfriendly.
By all accounts the chef is great, but the frontline let it down big time.
