16th May 2013 We popped in midweek after the movies for a small meal and were very pleased with our choice. Really relaxed atmosphere, cosy with the fire going and the staff were friendly and professional. We shared the tasting platter, beer and wine, all of which were totally delicious. Definitely going back - may look at for a private function next year, too.

19th May 2012 We went there for lunch on a Saturday at 12.15 only a another 2 -3 customers there at this time but already they had sold out of 1 menu item and we got the last of another [ only about 4 items on the menu for mains.]. Presentation was good, small servings and no options of bread or sides. Overpriced for the size but tasted good. Salt was in a small dish and with no spoon so expected to use fingers to get "pinch" and obviously went between more than one tables, we thought that's that's a bit yucky. Long wait from ordering dessert to it arriving. Very nice dessert though, pity the sizing, prices and service let them down. Interesting decor- enjoyed looking at the motor bikes. Men's and Ladies toilets are combined in one room.
Overall rating was "average". I don't think I would return.

16th April 2012 We came to York Street Mechanics in Newmarket at about 2pm on a Sunday as we were drawn to the unique motorcycle fitout. The menu looked really nice but unfortunately they didn't have out first choice of the chicken and mushroom pies and they can't do the big breakfast any other way than with scrambled eggs. We ended up having the beetroot salad and mushroom pasta both of which were delicious. They have cocktails on the menu but they couldn't make them on this occasion. They serve the beer in crate style bottles with a ice bucket which was pretty cool. I'd like to come back and try the pie and cocktail one day as the salad was delicious.
