Psychotherapy is a way of gaining understanding and mindfulness of ourselves. People become aware of the patterns in their relationships and lives and in the choices they make. Often these aspects have developed 'out of awareness' and the relationship with the therapist assists with processing and understanding longer term issues and facets of the self.
I work with people who have struggles which involve
* Trauma
* Relationships
* Depression & anxiety
* Life changes
* Couples issues
* Wellness and life purpose/meaning
Emotionally Focused Therapy is a well-researched, structured approach to couples therapy which began in the early 1980's. Using EFT, 70-75% of couples move from distress to recovery and approximately 90% show significant improvements.
Some couples come in to couples therapy very distressed (e.g. if there has been a crisis such as illness or affairs). Others have been together a long time and want to feel closer and more connected. Others are in the early stages of a new relationship and want to learn new ways to connect.
Intensive couple sessions are available for couples who live out of the Tauranga area; and Yve also works with couples who live outside of New Zealand via Skype.
