C-Me Mentoring Foundation Trust (oeC-Me) is the driver behind Trades At School which aims to bring positive and productive change to youth and their families; to industry and their business environment; and to society and its growth.
Formally established in 2008 as a charitable trust, C-Me set about responding to the specific skill needs of industry, as well as to the needs of our youth.
C-Me provides a catalyst for direction, hope and purpose for being at secondary school, by encouraging a change in mind set, a change in thinking and a change in attitude. It presents the focus, discipline, support, challenge and inspiration required to ensure our youth realize their full personal and professional potential.
The key unique proposition offered by C-Me is the nurturing and development of a student(TM)s potential by exposing them to industry and tertiary training whilst they are still attending secondary school.
Students are partnered with industry (companies) who provide on-the-job training during the school holidays.
Polytechnics also provide relevant training and all students undergo a STAR program involving safety and practical skills in relation to their industry of interest.
Our industry and tertiary partners allow students a means for real life, on-the-job training and practical purpose for being at school.
Mentoring begins at Year 12 where students undertake a selection of Level 1 and 2 unit standards, which by the end of Year 13 culminates in their achieving a Competenz National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering Level 2.
Our partnership with secondary schools, tertiary providers and industry focuses on maximising student potential by:
1. Encouraging and supporting our students to remain in school.
2. Raising our student educational achievement levels.
3. Tailoring our students(TM) education to meet their specific interests and industry needs.
The primary objective of Trades At School is to achieve a National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering Level 2. This covers all unit standards for eight different trades.
