29 Sumner Road was built in 1867 for John Hill, an important Lyttelton engineer who also owned the Albion Hotel. It was then owned by shipwright Alexander Watson.
In the 1980's it was left neglected and derelict before being rediscovered and extensively and beautifully renovated by those who recognised its potential.
It now boasts a perfect combination of original features with high class modern installations.
29's interior is now perfectly suited to an eclectic collection of pieces from European and New Zealand Designers including Phillip Starck, Tolix, Terence Conran's Habitat and David Trubridge.
29 is only an easy 5 minute walk from the centre of Lyttelton or the fabulous Lyttelton Farmers Market as we are situated above the harbour on the infamous Sumner Road, or the 'road to Sumner'. We are therefore perfectly situated for both business and leisure stays.
