The community development trust aims to encourage and facilitate community development for disadvantaged sectors of society and others.
PDT has been active since its incorporation in 1996, and exists to provide realistic and innovative social development services by identifying community need and creating practical solutions to address the need.
The primary focus of the Positive Directions Trust is to assist in the development of communities, in particular: Maori, Pasifika Peoples, and other disadvantaged or disenfranchised community groups.
At-risk or disadvantaged communities can be those with high unemployment, high numbers of beneficiaries, high numbers of early school leavers, poor health statistics, lower academic achievement and high numbers of single parent families.
