Little Waikato Scholars Pre School is Hamilton East child care centre with a strong Whanau approach to educating children from 2.5 to 5, Qualified teachers onsite focus on learning opportunities.
The idea behind the Pre School is to ensure that our preschool children are well educated, independent learners that are able to cope in the school environment.
'Getting them ready for School'
The inside environment is inviting and stimulating for the children, they have the opportunity to be able to start activities and leave them knowing that they can revisit and continue on with their self directed learning.
The centre is only licensed for 40 children, with two qualified staff and a teacher in training. With the smaller numbers and the environment well equipped for this age group, it is giving the children the capability to learn with and alongside each.
The teachers are trained to work with the children, but not interfere with their own self directed learning, having teachers that can help to facilitate the children’s learning is widening their mind for the future.
Children will be taught within a quality environment, the teachers will ensure the individuality and educational needs of each child are nurtured and enhanced.
Children are respected and their input valued, this will enable them to foster their own learning.
Parents will be recognised and valued as first teachers for their own children.
Little Waikato Scholars Educare will provide a multi-cultural environment to reflect the society within which we live.
Teachers will teach a curriculum that is relevant for today to prepare the children for their future
The staff play an important part of the centres structure and development, having staff that are qualified and in training brings learning opportunities for the children to push the level of achievement to the highest.
The centre has 10 qualified teachers, and four teachers that vary in their training. All teachers are able to attend professional development on regular basis to ensure that they are providing the children with the most current theories of developmental learning.
Little Waikato Scholars Educare is a Ministry of Education Certified and practices Te Wahriki.
