2nd August 2012 Had dinner in the Boiler Room last night, same kitchen and cook as the Mayfair, but more intimate dining. Both had steak which was cooked to perfection and as requested, the best I have had for a very long time. Also they stock Kereru beer which is a local boutique brewer, well worth trying. Service was excellent, will return again.
Mayfair Cafe is Upper Hutt's premier dining destination.
You will find us behind the red door in the historic Mayfair Theatre building.
Our menu, inspired by our chef/owner Rob Cowan's travels through Asia and Europe, is eclectic. Main meals range from Indian Doha (pancake) with Minted Yoghurt to Highland Mussels with Sourdough Bread or dark stout Lamb Shank with Spring Onion Mash. Prices for mains range from $22 to $30.
We are open 7 days for brunch (from 8:30 to 4pm) and for lunch from Thursday to Saturday (from 5:30pm).
Mayfair Cafe is fully licensed and its premises also house Boileroom winebar.
We are available for functions, simply give the duty manager a call to make your booking.
17th October 2015 This well run cafe is excellent for just a cup of coffee and slice or full lunch. Staff are efficient and friendly and always recognise the regulars.
