Great place to have a drink and a nice meal. The meals are tasty and great value for money. It is also family friendly to our 2 and 5 year old daughters.
The best bread in town with garlic butter to spead on yourself. Also the calamari is delicious.

I have been fortunate enough to dine at Speight's Ale House on various occasions. The meals are consistently of a high standard, fresh, tasty and well presented. The bar and waiting staff are always friendly, welcoming and always willing to assist. If you are after a wholesome delicious meal in a relaxed atmosphere, I would highly recommend trying Speight's Ale House.

We used this place for a staff farewell dinner and can be quite demanding when we do. Not all kitchens are set up to serve 20 - 25 people at once. But despite the tremendous variance in our orders only one set of dishes came out anything other than piping hot. I had the seafood chowder which was rich and full of good seafood, served with a hunk of bread hot from an oven. I didn't need desert! And most charming for those who couldn't finish their meals, doggie bags took the form of aluminium baskets, where the heat insulating foil was curved cunningly over the sealed package to form a very sturdy carry handle. We are going back again next week. ;-)
