29th September 2011 I booked an evening dinner for 28 people for my sister's hen's night. I met with Eunice (the manager) who was lovely to organise the dinner. Eunice decorated the restaurant in colours to match my sister's wedding theme and made a print out menu with the meal choices that we selected. The table setting looked great!
The food (eye fillet steak and baked chicken breast mains followed by a selection of ice creams and chocolate mud cake) was delicious and all of the guests were really satisfied.
The staffs were friendly and efficient. I would recommend this restaurant for anyone planning a celebration or just a quiet night for two.
Thanks Eunice and staff for a really great evening!! My sister was really pleased!
Greenhithe's newest cafe and restaurant is a popular spot for a leisurely weekend breakfast, relaxing coffee and snack, lunch, dinner or a brunch catching up with family and friends - a children's menu is also available.
A family friendly restaurant with a range of choices at any time of the day.
Greenhithe Cafe & Restaurant is spacious and modern, with an extensive and interesting dinner menu ranging from tiger prawns grilled with banana with caciki and sweet chilli sauce, calamari crumbed and deep fried, crispy skin akaroa salmon, char-grilled eye fillet with potato gratin or chicken breast.
There's also a mouth watering selection of decadent cakes, slices or desserts to choose from.
Greenhithe is quick to get to whilst still retaining a peaceful village atmosphere. There's ample parking in the village car park adjacent to the restaurant.
Family owned and operated they also cater for small or large private dinner functions.
Under New management with new menus.
Live music on every 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month from 12.00 to 2.00pm
13th October 2012 I signed up specifically so I could write this review.
DO NOT DINE HERE ... EVER !!!
At almost $100 for a dinner for 2 people, entree, main and a drink, I would not even feed it to my dog. The lamb shanks were big, but the taste was very average. They came in a large plate with some mashed potatoe and the whole lot was covered in a watery "gravy", though gravy is definitely not an accurate description. My wife had Pork Belly which consisted of 2 pieces of fat. There was some meat on it, but boy did you have to search to find it. And the side of veges was not very appetising either.
I read 4 reviews before going. One of those reviews was bad while the other 3 were OK. I wish I had taken note of the bad review. I will NEVER return. A complete waste of money.

17th April 2012 We dined here (for the first time) as a group of 4 last weekend for my birthday and were very disappointed I am sad to say.
Firstly the waiter did not know the menu (or ingredients of the dishes), then my husband and I had the duck dish which was almost inedible. The duck breast was a generous portion but was cooked until dry. The vegetables were yellow beans that were barely cooked, broccoli that was overcooked to mush and chewy/hard polenta. The overall dish was really bland.
The service was attentive but the staff seemed to struggle at times with understanding our requests/questions. Then we ordered glasses of port and a glass of the late harvest reisling for dessert. The port came in the tiniest glasses I have ever seen(not the usual port glass) and was very overpriced. The reisling was bought out but was a glass of normal reisling - not dessert wine. We tried to explain to the waiter that this was not what we had ordered but he was just confused and had to bring out the manager who tried to convince us that it was correct. It took quite an effort to explain that we were after the dessert wine - which was finally served correctly. Although the staff were friendly and were trying hard - the overall experience was not pleasant and (I feel) overpriced.

21st August 2011 A group of 9 attended dinner in August 2011. The entries were tasty, especially the prawns with grilled pineapple. The mains were divine, raves were made on the lamb shanks, pork belly and steak, all having a divine gravy to compliment the dish (no extra sides needed to be ordered). Minimal dessert range with only a choice of 2x creme brulee's, kapiti icecream and the chefs special for the night, but in saying that the desserts were all lovely. The childrens menu was different to the one on this website and dissapointing with the usual deep fry, but we asked for a smaller version of the chicken fettucine which was not a problem for the chef and was charged at the child menu price. Ending the night with specialty coffee's, nice and strong! The waitress was great and at the end of the night had totalled the bill up individually for us. The entre's, mains and dessests came out a bit staggered, with guests at the table having theirs and not others, would bother some people but we were fine with it, as the hospitality and food made up for it. Overall great night, 9 guests were happy, and would return again.

22nd December 2010 Greenhithe Restaurant has a new dinner menu I can only describe as sublime.
Our party of 6 had one of the most enjoyable dining experiences.
We decided to try as much variety as possible from the new menu.
Our entrees included the portobello mushroom, calamari & prawns dishes. The flavours were just delicious.
Our mains consisted of the char-grilled eye fillet, venison, roast duck leg and lamb cutlets. Every dish was absolutely divine & perfectly cooked. The only slight disappointment was the smallish portion of duck leg. We thought two duck legs would have better matched the good sized portions of the other mains.
Our sides of seasonal vegs were good.
We finished with the most delicious desserts. Passion fruit creme brulee, sticky date pudding, tiramisu and a kapati ice-cream mix. We all enjoyed every mouthful.
Our allpress espressos and hot chocolate to finish were just excellent.
You can choose from 2 special offers.
Your choice of any two dishes for $35.
Or when 6 people dine you receive 1 free main meal.
We will be returning again.

24th September 2010 Meeting friends for drinks we decided on Greenhithe cafe & restaurant as it was a bit classier and not as noisy as the local pub. The atmosphere was great, we had enjoyed our starters so we decided to stay on for dinner. The food was excellent and my eye fillet steak was perfect, everyone was impressed with their meals. My mud cake was yummy and the coffee very good indeed.

9th September 2010 If you are looking for a family friendly cafe I would highly recommend Greenhithe Cafe & Restaurant. The breakfast menu is great & they make the best coffee ever! You can take the kids & dog for a walk through the park afterwards.
