7th March 2016 I had a terrible experience with Kumon Takapuna that I decided to pull out my son. My son who is in year 5 took an assessment for Kumon and I was just surprised that for a few weeks now he was given very basic maths Kumon worksheet I.e 5+1 /4+3 that he was doing more than three years ago. I raised my concerns to the owner and asked what's the assessment for if he's starting at the most basic level and not where he should be. Gee, the owner was sooo defensive ! She went on and on ranting about the Kumon way, this is how they do this in Kumon, doesn't care how others like sports do things and that NZ schools aren't really good in instilling discipline. It was a one way conversation and what a turn off! I will never trust somebody like her with my son's education. Kumon is a franchise- do they care about a child's learning or is this just business? My experience taught me it's the latter.
