14th December 2011 I dined at the Cheeky Pipi with friends last night.
The environment was very relaxed and welcoming - the staff very friendly and hospitable, however as the restaurant grew busier, the one waiter could have done with some assistance.
The meals came out after a half hour wait. They were very well presented and overall we enjoyed our meals. The only criticism I would make is that my steak was overcooked whilst the vegetables could have done with a little more steaming. Less time waiting between orders could also be addressed.
I will try the Cheeky Pipi again to see if things improve.

22nd November 2010 Came here for birthday celebrations and was, unfortunately, a mixed bag that could easily have been fixed.
Ordered an entree of mussels and they arrived, reasonably tasty but not cleaned well.
Then, unbelievably, had to wait almost two hours for our mains! Tough times in the kitchen me thinks. Luckily when they arrived the food was great, fish of the day was beautiful.
For desert steamed pudding, which was devine.
What made it all ok was the waiter, great personality and very apologetic. Gave us a round of drinks on the house and a birthday shot when we left!
On a good day, Cheeky Pipi would be great.
The boss showed me his pipi shell collection. It would be nice if it sell a dish with pipi in. Island Bay needs The Cheeky Pipi.
