5th January 2014 My partner and I have been living here for over a year now. We have stayed in three of the four tiers of accommodation on offer.
There are the modern apartments with easy direct access and full furnishings including full laundry appliances. There are also apartments which are located in the main Franklyn building which are a little dated but quiet,roomy,sunny and breezy with views if you get one that is higher up, these do not have washing facilities in the unit them selves but there is a laundromat in house.
The other unit we spent a short stay in while waiting for other accommodation to be ready is large open plan room with modern bathroom and a small fridge, more basic but adequate for a single person, student or short to mid term solution.
The main concern with Franklyn Village would be the types of people who seem to flock to this place. I believe this to be due to the number of very basic but cheap rooms available which are basically 2x3m rooms with a bed and a desk as far as I can tell...
This has the effect which other reviews have spoken of, Theft,tattoos and general lower economic scale problems.
The security are always on site and ready to help and keep an eye on the security cameras which are now EVERYWHERE!.
All the staff are super friendly and professional and are a true asset to Franklyn Village and have played a key role in tipping the scale in favour of choosing to stay here.
I would like to see more NMIT students taking advantage of the en-suite rooms which have free power zero maintenance and with the parking, location to town and the low cost making it a good alternative to flatting or Nikau apartments.
If Franklyn Village could get more students interested it should lift the general ethos.

30th October 2013 I stayed at Franklyn Village for a short period in 2013. While the staff were friendly and helpful I would never repeat the experience. I was charged full price for facilities that included access to a kitchen with a broken down stove the entire time. My room was broken into and my wallet including every card and licence I had was stolen. This indicated a key copy. On the day I left my belongings were plundered and at least one item taken while I turned my back for ten minutes. I was left very traumatised, and out of pocket to replace stolen items.
I would not recommend staying there to my worst enemy.
Worst of al,l the police seemed powerless to do anything about this.

12th February 2012 This is very affordable accommodation in a large complex . Very clean and comfortable and safe . they have security guard at night . great staff

24th August 2011 Its a nice place to live if you enjoy the communal living, They need to have more facilities for Females on the Franklyn side, like they do on the Barton side. They also need to do something about some of the odours in the hallways. Other than that a very nice place to live or stay.
